Nació el 27 de junio de 1977 en Madrid.

Sus comienzos en el fútbol fueron en el equipo de San Cristóbal de Los Ángeles hasta que fue fichado por el Atlético de Madrid a la edad de 13 años. Debutó con el equipo infantil y consiguió 65 goles jugando como interior izquierdo. En la temporada siguiente, se consiguieron unos resultados muy similares, pero cerca del final de temporada, el presidente del club, Jesús Gil y Gil, eliminó las divisiones inferiores del club.

De esta manera, el Real Madrid, se interesa por él ofreciéndole un contrato de seis años. Permaneció un año en el equipo cadete; al año siguiente comenzó a jugar en el juvenil B en el que permaneció tan solo dos jornadas, pasando al juvenil A, aunque tampoco terminó en este equipo la temporada ya que pasó al sub-19. Más adelante se incorporó al tercer equipo del Real Madrid. En éste consiguió en sus primeros siete partidos 13 tantos. Jorge Valdano, le otorgó la oportunidad de debutar el 29 de octubre de 1994 frente al Zaragoza, en Primera División. Tan sólo tenía 17 años siendo el jugador más joven en vestir la camiseta a lo largo de la historia del club blanco.

Esta temporada fue bastante completa para Raúl ya que el Real Madrid conquistó el título de Liga y él consiguió nueve goles. Una de las mejores temporadas para el jugador fue la de 1996-1997, el Real Madrid consiguió una nueva Liga (en la que marcó 21 goles) y debutó con la selección española el 9 de octubre de 1996 en Praga ante la República Checa (0-0). Aunque le costó bastante llegar a la selección: tuvo su primera experiencia con el equipo sub-18, continuó su trayectoria en el sub-20 y sub-21.

Viajó a Qatar para asistir al Mundial juvenil, consiguiendo España la cuarta plaza. Aunque Javier Clemente, seleccionador español en ese momento, decidió no convocarle para jugar en la Eurocopa absoluta de 1996, ya que creyó oportuno reservarlo para los Juegos Olímpicos de Atlanta.

El día 15 de junio de 2000, renovó su contrato con el Real Madrid hasta el año 2005 con una cláusula de rescisión de 30.000 millones de pesetas. Participó activamente en la consecución de la liga de la temporada 06/07 marcando goles decisivos. Confirmó su mejoría en la temporada 2007-08 logrando 23 goles. Firmó en el año 2008, un contrato vitalicio con el Real Madrid que amplía el que ya le unía al club hasta 2011 y que le permitirá renovar su lazo con el club, temporada a temporada. En el mes de julio de 2010, se rumoreó la marcha del futbolista al Schalke. El 26 de julio hizo oficial su marcha del Real Madrid y, finalmente, su fichaje por el equipo alemán. El 19 de abril de 2012 anuncia su despedida del Schalke y de la Bundesliga. El 13 de mayo de 2012 se anuncia su fichaje por el Al-Sadd y el 13 de Abril de 2013 se proclama campeón de la Liga de Catar en su primera temporada.

En 1999 contrajo matrimonio con la modelo Mamen Sanz, a quien dedica todos los goles que marca besando la alianza de matrimonio. Su hijo Jorge nació el 25 de febrero de 2000.

El 22 de agosto de 2013, Raúl González recibió un homenaje en el estadio del Real Madrid. El máximo goleador de la historia del club jugó una parte con cada equipo, una con el Real Madrid y otra con el Al Sadd. Volvió a vestir la camiseta blanca con su 7 de siempre, cedido por Cristiano Ronaldo. El estadio al completo ovacionó al mítico capitán del Real Madrid, equipo que se llevó el Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu tras vencer al Al- Sadd catarí por 5-0.

Samuel Eto'o might join the Dutch league

Samuel Eto'o could join Ajax Amsterdam.

The British "Sun" newspaper revealed today that the Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o and his agent met with Marc Overmars , Ajax Amsterdam's technical director.

The newspaper sarcastically confirmed that Eto'o and his agent meet with Netherlands' legend Overmars in a private place in the French Capital and questioned : "what are they doing ? playing for example ?! "

FC Barcelona officially announced their new captains.

Xavier Hernández is Barcelona's new captain.

The Spanish FC Barcelona has announced today that they have chosen Xavi Hernández , Andres Iniesta , Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets to be Barcelona's captains this seasons.

As was expected , Xavi was chosen to be the first captain to replace Carles Puyol who retired at the end of Last season , on the other hand , Iniesta was chosen to be the vice-captain , to replace Victor Valdes who refused to renew his contract at the end of last season , got injured and is currently a free agent , while Messi and Busquets have been selected to be the 3rd and 4th captain.

It is worth mentioning that Luis Enrique has announced that he will not choose the team's captains , and that he will make the team vote for their captain in a democratic election , it is notable that many coaches started using this method to avoid personal disagreement.
